Dr. Therese Flaherty is the Director of the Wharton Small
Business Development Center (google: Wharton SBDC). Until
recently, she was the Director of the Wharton MBA program
Global Consulting Practicum (http://mktgweb.wharton.upenn.edu/gcpcourse)
and an adjunct associate professor in the Marketing Department
at Wharton. Under her leadership, this consulting program
expanded dramatically from Israel to Chile, Mexico and India.
She has taught Marketing and Operations Management at Wharton,
Operations Management at Harvard Business School and Economics
at Stanford University. She has done a wide range of consulting.
She received her BS in math and economics from Tufts University,
spent a year as a general student at the London School of
Economics, and received her PhD in economic theory from
Carnegie-Mellon University. Her research has focused on
the connections between operations and strategic management,
especially in global business. Among her publications two
which may be of interest are Global Operations Management
(McGraw-Hill, 1996) and "Coordinating International
Manufacturing and Technology" which appeared in Competition
in Global Industries edited by Michel E. Porter (Harvard
Business School Press, 1986). She is on the editorial boards
of the journals: Strategic Management Journal and Japan
and the World Economy.
